In the time since The Bumpy Pumpkin was written, I've developed greater appreciation for the signifigance of the allegory.  Having been recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, i.e. a "bump in the middle of my middle;" and a recent "carving on my pumpkin;" it is important to pass along these thoughts. Consider the "seeds" taken and planted from the Bumpy Pumpkin as representing God's word.

Please be encouraged to spread the seeds, bolstered with the love that is the overwelming evidence of God's grace in you. This is alone is our "very special purpose" as all too soon, tomorrow becomes today.

Michael Jensen is a medical illustrator at the Medical College of Georgia.  In a previous career he illustrated the "Curious George" series.  His talent for translating words to art is incredible.  We are fortunate to have his contributions to Every Kite Needs A String.

Avis Lyle demonstrated great patience while working on "The Bumpy Pumpkin".  Her use of colors is striking and her empathy for a childrens perspective is obvious to all.  Please visit her website to see more of her work. WWW.ArtworkByAvis.com
